This 3 day course is aimed at professional Hair and Makeup Artist that work Black, Asian and

Middle Eastern ethnicity and Afro hair in the performing arts.

This Masterclass course will include:

• Relevant health and safety requirements.
• Professional etiquette to show hair and makeup artist are knowledgeable about BAME* skin tone and Afro hair.
• Break down of Afro hair structure.
• Hairdressing tools essentials for working with Afro hair.
• Hair and makeup product knowledge and recommendations.
• How to prepare various Afro hairstyle techniques.
• Knowledge and maintenance on Weaves, Weft extensions, Cornrow, Braids, Dreadlocs, Natural hair curls, Twist, Relaxed and Men low cuts.
• Heat styling.
• Understanding colour effects and tones for BAME skin tones.
• How different products effects BAME skin and awareness of skin sensitivity and allergies.
• Colour correcting and pigmentation.
• Colour knowledge for period makeup that compliment BAME skin-tone.
• Eye shape makeup techniques for BAME.

*BAME = Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic

You need to bring hair tools such as brushes, combs, hair dryers, hair straighteners, curling tongs, curling wands, hair pins and clips.

Bring also your makeup kit including brushes, skincare, removers etc.

Kamanza Amihyia

Kamanza Amihyia is a professional Hair and Media Makeup artist and an educator at Pinewood studios Creative Media Skills, BECTU and Peter King Academy (Bath Academy of Media Make-up) in Bath. As well as having global celebrity clientele Kamanza has over 20 years experience in the creative industry.

She is originally trained in fashion design and illustrations from the prestigious London College of Fashion and then went on to train in Media Make-up and hair.

Kamanza’s specialised skill’s area are in European and Afro hair and working across all skin tones and ethnicities, teaching to professional Make-up and Hair artist in the performing arts, TV, film, commercial, college and school students. Over the years Kamanza has worked in television, music, fashion editorial/shows, entertainments, sports and has been able to tour all over the world with her celebrity and corporate clients.
